North Atlantic Industries announces release of ARINC429 Support for its VPX, VME, cPCI and PCI Multifunction Boards

7 months 3 weeks ago → New Products

NAI Multifunction Boards offer an extensive collection of I/O and Communication functions, such as <a href=ARINC 429/575" align="right" border="0" width='210' popBoxShowRevertBar = 'true' pbShowRevertText = 'false' popBoxShowRevertImage = 'true' popBoxRevertText = '' pbShowPopBar="false" pbShowPopText = "false" popBoxShowPopImage="true" pbshowcaption="true" pbcaption="NAI Multifunction Boards offer an extensive collection of I/O and Communication functions, such as ARINC 429/575" pbsrc = "http://i.opensystemsmedia.com/?q=93&w=870&src=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.opensystems-publishing.com%2Fimages%2Fnews%2FIOGroupcopy_1299362242.jpg" class="PopBoxImageSmall" title="Click to zoom" onclick="Pop(this,50,'PopBoxImageLarge');" src="http://i.opensystemsmedia.com/?fltr[0]=usm|40|4&q=93&w=210&src=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.opensystems-publishing.com%2Fimages%2Fnews%2FIOGroupcopy_1299362242.jpg" />
NAI Multifunction Boards offer an extensive collection of I/O and Communication functions, such as ARINC 429/575

North Atlantic Industries (NAI) has announced the availability of ARINC429/575 support for its wide range of VPX, VME, cPCI and PCI Multifunction boards. Known as the A4, it joins an extensive list of functions that are currently available from NAI. The ARINC 429/575 A4 provides up to six programmable ARINC-429/575 channels. Each channel is software selectable for Transmit and/or Receive, High or Low Speed, and Odd or No Parity, supporting multiple ARINC429 and 575 channels simultaneously.

Multifunction Boards eliminate the need for specialized, single function boards by providing an assortment of communication and I/O functions on a single card. The unique board architecture contains independent slots, which allows the user to mix-and-match a variety of functions to meet multiple specific application requirements. One major advantage of this multi-function approach is higher functional density, which reduces overall board count, thereby saving space and cost, reducing heat dissipation and increasing overall system reliability. Other available functions include A/D, D/A, Synchro/Resolver/ LVDT/RVDT Simulation and Measurement, CANBus, MIL-STD-1553, Synchronous/Asynchronous RS232/422/485, Discrete, TTL/CMOS, Reference Generator, Differential Transceiver and Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD).

The ARINC429/575 function is supported on VPX, VME, cPCI and PCI Multifunction Boards with operating temperature ranges of -40°C to +85°C and 0°C to +70°C. Pricing for 100 pieces of the 64C2 VME Board with 6 channels of ARINC429/575 support starts at $2880. Delivery is 10 to 12 weeks, ARO.

"ARINC 429 is the most commonly used data bus for commercial and transport aircraft. The A4 employs unidirectional transmission of 32 bit words. Messages are transmitted at 12.5 kbps or 100 kbps to other system elements that are monitoring the bus messages.” said Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing at NAI. “This new ARINC429/575 support adds additional functionality to our already extensive library of functions, which gives our customers additional choices when configuring a Multifunction I/O Board “
