Elma Electronic Acquires ACT/Technico

FREMONT, Calif., January 12, 2009 – Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, announces today the acquisition of ACT/Technico. Serving the industry for over 30 years, ACT/Technico is now part of Elma Electronic Inc. where it will continue to provide the same quality embedded, open standards-based products and sub-system integration services to customers in the defense, semiconductor equipment, transportation, communications, medical imaging and homeland security markets.

The acquisition enhances Elma’s system integration capabilities and adds an extensive product and partner portfolio to the company’s already wide offering. Both companies are renowned in the market for their VITA-based, PICMG-based and other standards-based products and solutions. Combining Elma’s system platform packaging expertise with ACT/Technico’s embedded integration skills provides a formidable range of capabilities from components to fully integrated sub-systems.

The acquisition provides Elma with enhanced expertise in markets from telecom to medical to mil/aero and in architectures from VME to VPX and from AdvancedTCA to MicroTCA. ACT/Technico also provides single board computers, mass storage, networking, device drivers, PCI mezzanine cards and more.

Established in 1978, ACT/Technico is located in Warminster, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. The company will continue to operate from its current location as a part of Elma’s System Platform division, specializing in integration and board-level solutions. Elma’s other product divisions include Backplanes, Enclosures & Components, Cabinet Enclosures and Rotary Switches.
