Located in Curtiss-Wright’s High Wycombe, UK site, new Tech Support Office will offer dedicated support resources throughout Europe
LEESBURG, VA – February 13, 2009 -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VME, VPX, VXS and CompactPCI products for the aerospace and defense market, has announced that it is opening a new Tech Support Office to serve customers throughout the UK and Europe. Located in the company’s High Wycombe, UK-based business unit, the Tech Support Office will expand Curtiss-Wright’s presence in UK and European markets, and provide support for all Curtiss-Wright board-based products and related software.
“Our new Tech Support Office will enable us to better serve the European aerospace and defense community with timely and local technical support response,” said Lynn Patterson, vice president and general manager of Modular Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. “Our Tech Support Office team will be closely aligned with our existing engineering support teams to fulfill our commitment to deliver the best, most comprehensive support offered in the embedded COTS industry.”
In addition to strengthening Curtiss-Wright’s presence in the UK and Europe, the new Tech Support Office will also enhance support services for the company’s Asia and Pacific (APAC) customers. While APAC customers will continue to have access to Curtiss-Wright’s North American support offices, the new Wycombe, UK office will offer greater time-zone flexibility for customers who require support after the North American business day has ended.
Curtiss-Wright, which has business operations in Letchworth, England, Cardiff, Wales and Edinburgh, Scotland, recently expanded its UK/European presence with the acquisition, completed in October, 2008, of VMETRO, one of the oldest and largest independent COTS aerospace and defense vendors, which will further enhance Curtiss-Wright Controls’ leadership position in a wide range of embedded product categories including high performance real-time processing, digital signal processing (DSP), high-density radar processing, data communications, data recording, and network storage systems.
Founded in 1986, VMETRO operates globally with headquarters and principal engineering in Oslo, Norway. Additional sales, engineering and distribution networks are established in Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, the U.S. and Asia. In addition, VMETRO’s strong UK and European sales teams which operate under the brand VSYSTEMS will help to speed the growth of Curtiss-Wright Controls’ business in those markets.
